Summary
James Hume is recruiting for a Maintenance Technician to carry out planned and unplanned work and related activities on their R&D Site in Kent. This site is where their main drug discovery takes place as well as manufacturing, packaging and distribution for clinical trials. Due to the continued increase in the volume of products entering trails they have invested in this site so that it can meet the increased manufacturing and distribution demands. This role is as a result of this expansion to take support the increased activity in the manufacturing, packaging and R&D areas
The Company
They have sites located throughout the UK that cover all the different aspects of the development and commecialisation of drugs from discovery to commercialisation. They are now undergoing a sustained period expansion as they now have successfully launched 2 products with further novel drugs at all phases of clinical trials. In addition to this they have further products under development which will be moving to clinical trials soon. Their research is based on a unique cannabinoid technology which is now beginning to meet its potential as they explore its benefits further. The company are rightly proud of their product pipeline and their aim is to keep their position at the front of research in their unique field.
The Role
This is a key role within the engineering department to conduct mechanical maintenance work to ensure the efficient running of packaging, manufacturing and filling lines. There is an emphasis on the quality of your work to ensure that patients receive a safe, effective and quality assured product.
An overview of the role responsibilities are:
- To deliver maintenance tasks on time while maintaining compliance with equipment validation where applicable.
- Conduct PPM tasks in equipment that includes bottle filling, packaging machines, process equipment, AHU’s and utilities.
- Complete documentation to GMP standards
- Write and keep up to date SOP’s for the department.
- Supervise Contractors when needed
The company are making the transition from small scale manufacture to full commercial scale over the course of this year which is a sign of the success of their products in the market. This means you will support this process using your knowledge to help develop strategies and approach for the engineering department.
Experience
You will need to be a qualified mechanical or multi skilled technician with experience of working in a GMP / ISO accredited environment in the food and / or pharmaceutical industries. Ideally you will gave a C&G trade certification with proven experience in these sectors. Additionally if you have experience of working in manufacturing / packaging environment then this is advantageous to your application.
