Summary
An exciting role has arisen for an enthusiastic scientist with Characterisation experience, to join a a team of Material Scientists engaged in characterising API and drug products.  The scientist will be primarily lab based utilizing a suite of physical and chemical characterisation techniques, which would include light microscopy, particle size analysis, powder flow, spectroscopy and thermal techniques.  This is an excellent opportunity with a large Pharmaceutical organisation in Sandwich, Kent, with a combination of lab-based an data analysis responsibilities. The position is a contract for 2 years initially, with a lot of scope for extension beyond this.

The Company
A global, market leading pharmaceutical organisation with extensive operations in the UK, Europe and beyond. The company operates a combination of in-house and contracted out manufacturing and you will be working in an innovation centre that analyses solid dose material for a range of drug products. You will be based in a large and innovative site in Sandwich, Kent.

The Role
Your key responsibilities will include:

 

 

  • Performing analytical tests including light microscopy, particle size analysis, spectroscopic and thermal techniques. 
  • Documenting observations through experiment completion and often working outside of document driven procedures, and therefore an innovative approach to problem solving is required.
  • Compiling large sets of data and providing these to the project lead in a concise format.
  • Planning and reviewing work schedules to meet deadlines, communicate results clearly to your supervisor via written presentations. 

Experience
The successful candidate will have a degree (or similar) in a scientific discipline, based around Chemistry, combined with some experience of solid dose Pharmaceutical manufacturing (especially powder APIs). You must be well-versed in performing lab experiments, using a light microscope and physical property characterisation techniques (e.g. laser diffraction particle size, specific surface area etc). You will need some knowledge of the application of material assessment methods to predict product performance. We are looking for someone with strong time management and communication skills. If you are selected, you will be paid an hourly rate which will work out equivalent to around £27,000. salary. This role is for a minimum of 2 years and the experience you gain from this experience will be highly valuable.
