Mechanical Design Engineer

Based in Dunfermline an exciting new Mechanical Design Engineer opportunity has arisen with a market leader of ophthalmology diagnostic devices, on a 12 month fixed term contract basis to cover maternity leave.

The Role

As an integral part of the product design team you will be responsible for the development and ongoing analysis of the existing product portfolio and the concepts for new emerging products. Ensuring continuous improvement of all devices through design efficiency and the incorporation of new technology, to continue to provide cutting edge medical device solutions. Working in close conjunction with product engineering colleagues, you  will be responsible for communicating design intent and operational work-flow alongside writing technical specification documentations and pro-actively offering creative solutions to highlighted issues from design review failure reports.

Experience

Educated to degree level in opto-mechanical or mechanical engineering, the successful candidate will also have experience of mechanical design in a commercial setting, ideally within a medical device company, although other industry experience will be considered. Proficient in the use of 3D CAD modelling for mechanical design and familiar with opto-mechanical system design and/or mechanical manufacturing. This role will involve working to tight deadlines and in conjunction with other internal teams of varying disciplines, thus strong organisational skills and excellent communication abilities will be essential.
