Summary
Two brand new temporary positions have arisen in Swindon, for bright and enthusiastic individuals with a degree in Microbiology and previous experience of working as a Technician within a laboratory (preferably commercial Pharmaceutical). If you are a hard-working, flexible, honest and reliable person, and keen to develop your understanding of Micro techniques, GLP and data integrity, apply now! One contract is for 6 months and the other for 12 months, with immediate start preferred.

The Company
A major Pharmaceutical service organisation based in Swindon, Wiltshire. Across 30+ sites worldwide, the company offers a range of drug development, manufacturing, packaging and distribution services to the global pharmaceutical, biotechnology and consumer health industries. The Swindon site is a busy R&D and manufacturing facility, producing both large and smaller quantities of patented products, including some sterile processing. From a Microbiology perspective, this is an excellent environment in which to gain new experiences.

The Role
This is a busy position in which you will perform various microbiological analyses, bioburden testing (raw materials and in-process samples), final product bacterial endotoxin and sterility testing. You will investigate out-of-limit or out-of-specification test results, and provide lab support for validation and business development activities. You will compile and interpret results of microbiology and environmental monitoring tests and results, ensuring that the data can be verified and substantiated. Your responsibilities will also include maintaining, cleaning and and sterilising laboratory instruments and equipment.

We are looking for hard-working individuals who understand how different chemical and physical laboratory tests can assist scientists in making qualitative and quantitative analyses, and are able to compose robust investigations for microbiology, environmental monitoring and support of manufacturing investigations. Some of your work will include writing technical reports or preparing graphs and charts to document experimental results.

This will be an excellent opportunity to gain more experience in following strict GMP / GLP regulations, operating and maintaining lab equipment, using incubators, autoclaves, ovens, vacuum pumps, and supporting the preparation of sample shipments to different sites. This is a broad, varied position which will expand on your Microbiology education and previous experience, in an advanced Pharmaceutical setting.

The Contract

Two positions are available – one for 6 months and the other for 12 months. You will be paid a competitive hourly rate in line with industry standards, dependent on your experience.

Requirements
The successful candidate will have a degree (or similar) in Microbiology, together with some experience of working in a regulated environment. Pharmaceutical GLP / GMP experience would be preferred, but candidates will also be considered from other industries including Food, Cosmetics, Medical Devices and Diagnostics. Experience of sterilisation techniques, sterility testing, water sampling (DI water, WFI and steam) and bioburden testing of bulk product would be a strong advantage. Above all else, you must be a motivated individual who works hard, gets on well with others, and is keen to undertake a range of different duties.
