Do you have experience in DNA production? Are you passionate about influencing cancer based therapies? An exciting position for a leading gene therapy company in the heart of London is currently available.

Your principal role will be to create new procedures whilst improving existing processes in nucleic acid production. While you will be working within Process Research team of the Platform Research department, you will have regularly interface with other teams within Platform Research & furthermore have opportunity to provide support to our therapeutic and manufacturing groups across the company.

In this role you will be expected to design, discover & develop procedures in nucleic acid production. An initial focus on designing screening experiments to discover new Innovative methods, followed by development of new exciting & novel methods of DNA amplification.

You will be primarily responsible for independent development of new/existing procedures (under guidance of the team lead). Beyond that, supporting team members on their own projects will be expected, as well as a proactive approach in seeking out opportunities to deploy your expertise to add value at all levels of the business.

Qualifications and experience:

• Applicants should have a Bachelors degree in molecular biology (or a related discipline), and several years further experience either in an academic (i.e. Masters & PhD) or an industrial setting

• Experience in purification, handling and assaying of nucleic acids, as well as a knowledge of experimental design.

• Practical experience in a research laboratory, with or without a set quality system would be highly desirable.

• Skilled at working independently, efficient in planning & organisation, and able to demonstrate these skills whilst working within a fast-moving team.

• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to handle data from complex intertwined systems. Propose & test hypothesis and, crucially, be willing to challenge currently held assumptions with existing procedures.

• Basic knowledge of quality-based systems (GMP, GLP etc.). Experience with these systems would be highly desirable
