James Hume is recruiting for a Project Manager to join a new site that has been opened by this company who are at the forefront of research into the development of Cell & Gene Therapies to be based in Stevenage.  The purpose of this new site is to manufacture therapies on a scale large enough for phase III clinical trials working in collaboration with academia and industry to bring these cutting-edge technologies to the market.  They are seeking a Project Manager who can oversee the onboarding and then ongoing management of these through their lifecycle and other special projects as they arise as the centre continues to develop

The Company
The company are a centre of excellence that is at the forefront of creating a viable and sustainable cell and gene therapy industry.  Their headquarters are in central London where they have built a leading multidisciplinary team that has the ability to take a therapy from concept through the development cycle to the market.  They collaborate with both academia and industry and they are able to provide the scientific, clinical and commercial expertise needed to overcome the challenges that hinder the commercialization of these fast developing, cutting edge technologies.  Their longer term aim is to make the UK a global leader in the development and commercial exploitation of therapies.  They are making great strides towards this aim with therapies entering phase 2 clinical trials and building credible cases to be progressed to stage 3.  Added to this they are expanding their manufacturing and development operations to meet increased demand for their services from the academic and commercial sectors.

The Role
The role of Project Manager is an influential role which is key to the successful operation of the new facility so that projects are on boarded correctly and then managed throughout the development lifecycle till completion.  Due to the unique positioning of this role you will be working closely with collaborators building relationships with them as their key point of contact from the initial stages of the engagement process.  Supporting the negotiation of contracts, setting of milestones, resources specifications and protocols to ensure these are mutually beneficial.  Then operating on a day to day basis working with Operations Lead and Senior Project Manager as projects progress setting out manufacturing and development schedules.  Working with the senior management team to ensure priorities are communicated clearly to ensure efficient, effective & compliant coordination of all activities.

In addition to the day to day work you will work on special projects as another key focus of this role is looking forward to ensuring the centre reaches its full potential and impact on this fast developing sector.  By addressing areas where improvements are made, your own ideas, but also to keep pace with developments in the market and keep the company at forefront of research in the development of cell & gene therapies.
