The Role
You will be working the weekend shift - Friday to Sunday (4 days) every week and reporting to the QC Team Leader.
As a QC Scientist your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting Non-Conformance and Out Of Specification investigations
- Undertaking the testing of raw materials for vaccine products (particularly using HPLC and GC)
- Assisting in the scheduling of different QC tests
- Conducting training of more junior staff
- Participating in the maintenance and optimisation of lab equipment and ensuring that reagent stocks are ordered and maintained efficiently.

Experience
The successful candidate will have a strong Chemistry education (BSc or MSc/MChem), backed with some experience gained in a commercial laboratory. Pharmaceutical QC experience, following GLP/GMP regulations, would be a strong advantage, though candidates will be considered from other settings such as Food, Cosmetics, Diagnostics or Medical Device testing. If you have experience of pharmacopoeia testing of raw materials this would be a bonus, together with experience of conducting inspections and quality investigations.
You must have a good understanding of chromatography techniques like HPLC and GC and will need to have the ambition to progress a long-term career in the lab. You will need to have excellent communication skills, the ability to train others, a positive and supportive attitude and a real desire to further your knowledge within a unique, ever-evolving Pharmaceutical company.
