Company Overview

This organisation is focused on advancing immunotherapies designed to improve treatment outcomes for patients with solid tumours. Their proprietary platforms enable the discovery of novel cancer-specific antigens from previously unexplored genomic regions, supporting the development of targeted therapies.

Backed by leading life science investors, the company operates within a multidisciplinary research environment and fosters strong collaborations with academic and industry partners.

Job Summary

The company has established a best-in-class pipeline for identifying novel antigens using mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics and immunopeptidomics. They are now expanding MS applications to include biologics characterisation and are seeking a senior scientist to contribute to this growing capability.

The successful candidate will generate proteomics data to support biologics characterisation and ongoing antigen discovery programmes. This role directly contributes to developing impactful therapies for cancer patients.

The role includes close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders across immunobiology, biochemistry, protein characterisation and LC-MS disciplines. Strong communication is essential to support scientific objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across proteomics analytical workflows, with expertise in LC MS methods (DDA, DIA, P(M)RM, intact mass).

• Drive the protein characterisation pipeline using various LC-MS techniques for lead biotherapeutic candidates.

• Support existing immunopeptidomics and proteomics activities, including target discovery and validation.

• Contribute to continuous development of MS based proteomics and immunopeptidomics methodologies.

• Provide technical support for maintenance and troubleshooting of LC MS instrumentation.

• Analyse, interpret and communicate data clearly to scientific stakeholders.

• Foster an innovative, collaborative research environment and share best practices.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field such as MS-based proteomics.

• In depth technical expertise in LC MS proteomics and related sample preparation.

Experience & Key Skills

• Proven ability to independently design and execute experiments for biologics characterisation (e.g., peptide mapping, PTM analysis, disulfide bridge mapping, host cell protein analysis).

• Experience developing and maintaining high resolution LC MS instrumentation and using proteomics software (e.g., PEAKS, DIANN, Skyline).

• Demonstrated experience in data analysis using programming languages such as R.

• Experience preparing biological samples (e.g., tissues, cell lines), including enrichment strategies.

• Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail and cross functional team experience.

• Self motivated team player with ability to meet deadlines
