Summary

Based in Sandwich, Kent a new role has arisen for an enthusiastic Organic Chemist with experience in conducting chemical reactions, work ups and isolations using membrane separation technology such as NMR, HPLC and GC. This role is with a global household name pharmaceutical company offering the opportunity to gain CV and career enhancing experience in world class research and development facilities. This role is offered on an initial 12-month contract basis with a likely hood of extension beyond this.

A global, market leading pharmaceutical organisation with extensive operations in the UK, Europe and beyond. The company has extensive research and development programs supporting their extensive portfolio of leading products. You will be based in a large and innovative site in Sandwich, Kent with world class laboratory Research and Development facilities.

The Role

To focus of this role is to assess the applicability of membrane separation, continuous extraction and other similar technologies to pharmaceutical chemistry processes. The role is mainly laboratory based and involves the use of membrane separation technology (primarily organic solvent nanofiltration), continuous extraction (primarily liquid / liquid extraction) and other laboratory techniques. This will encompass synthetic organic chemistry analysis of reaction mixtures and products; contribution to scientific direction; partnering effectively with other R&D Scientists plus external academics and industrial partners. The role is organic chemistry based conducting chemical reactions, work ups and isolations using membrane separation technology such as NMR, HPLC and GC.   

Experience

You will need a minimum of an honours degree in Chemistry or Engineering and good knowledge of membrane separation technology including NMR, HPLC and GC backed by a good understanding of organic chemistry. Rational and creative approach to problem solving. You will need the ability to apply learning from prior experience to new situations as well as trying new and untested approaches to Problem solving and be able to present your work clearly and concisely to stakeholders through written and verbal communications.

If you are selected, you will be paid an hourly rate which will work out equivalent to around £27,300. salary. This role is for a minimum of 12 months with the expectation of extensions beyond this.
