This is a brand-new role, with an international leader in Genomics services who have sites in China, USA, UK and other countries and are about to build a lab in Germany. In September 2023 they are going to confirm their site, which is likely to be in Limburg but could potentially be in Frankfurt. Working alongside one other person initially, you will be responsible for setting up a state-of-the-art laboratory – what an exciting opportunity!
Following an initial training period in Beijing, China, you will commence work on building a lab that will help to advance the company’s genomics services, including NGS, mRNA sequencing, transcriptome sequencing and various other solutions to support clinical diagnostics and the development of new Biopharmaceuticals.
You will be paid around €70,000 EUROs, plus 15% bonus (paid quarterly) and other benefits to discuss on application.
Your role will include:
- Build a modern wet lab from scratch, with the support of your colleagues in China, USA and UK.
- Oversee the installation, calibration and setup of state-of-the-art equipment, including sequencers, cold storage, QC and more.
- Create processes and ensure correct documentation and data management procedures are set up well.
- Achieve regulatory accreditation.
- Help to grow a positive and collaborative team.
Skills and Experience Required:
We are looking for an adaptable, energetic, collaborative, honest and versatile person to join this pioneering company who are developing new approaches to genomic research.
- Life science qualification – ideally a degree minimum (preferably a Masters or PhD) in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, biotechnology or similar
- A passion for Genomics
- Experience of working in a highly regulated wet lab, ideally in a Genomics company in Germany.
- Fluency in Mandarin and English, and conversational German.
- Experience in using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and / or a Linux system would be an advantage
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with people at all levels
- Proactive, driven, pragmatic, open-minded, emotionally intelligent, positive and respectful approach to your work
This is a permanent position which is open to people with either more or less experience. You will be based on site in the new lab (which will either be in Limburg or Frankfurt), with occasional opportunities to conduct some of your work from home.
