Do you have a strong scientific background in either Biochemistry or Chemistry? Do you have excellent communication skills, strong data analysis abilities and the ability to lead technical projects? A brand-new role has been created for a Biochemistry Team Leader, to join a pioneering Biopharmaceutical organisation in Worthing, West Sussex.
 
This is a permanent position, paying up to £47,000 + excellent benefits, depending on your experience. The company embraces ‘hybrid’ working and you will have the opportunity to work some days on site in Worthing (e.g. for lab work) and some days from home (e.g. for reviewing documentation and data).

The Role - Biochemistry Team Leader
 
Based in the busy Method Development team, which has close links to QC, QA, Stability, Regulatory Affairs and GMP Production, you will manage a team of Method Development Scientists and provide scientific expertise based upon a relevant knowledge base and lead the organisation and management of Scientific data with key company stakeholders to achieve regulatory and market driven objectives. This role will have a real focus on people leadership and the candidate must be comfortable leading, motivating and supervising the R&D Development method team, to ensure they meet the requirements of the business in a proactive and efficient manner.
 
You will interact closely with other departments, so it is essential that you have strong communication skills and the ability to work alongside scientists at different levels. This is a varied role that requires someone with a proactive, problem-solving approach to your work and the ability to manage your own time.

Experience
 
The successful candidate will have a background in either Biochemistry or Chemistry (whether at BSc, MSc or PhD level) and ideally some strong experience gained in a commercial, GMP-regulated environment (Pharma, Biotechnology, Food or similar). Candidates will also be considered from academic research or non-GMP environments, providing you can demonstrate transferable skills in line management experience, and the ability to manage complex projects with xpectations from multiple stakeholders.
 
It is essential that you understand method development processes. You will need to have expertise in at least one of HPLC, Mass Spectrometry or ELISA, though knowledge of other techniques such as SDS-PAGE, Western Blotting etc. will be useful. Good communication and work planning skills are essential. Above all else, you must be able to demonstrate a keen scientific interest and the enthusiasm to build specialist knowledge in the development of adjuvant vaccine products for allergy treatment.
