We all had some sore legs over the weekend from our 24-hour bike ride, but it was worth it! We have raised £574 so far (and counting) for Make-a-Wish UK and donations are still coming in – please give if you can. The JustGiving link is at the bottom of this article.

Thanks to the collective efforts of 14 people in our Next Phase team, we managed to cycle non-stop for 24 hours on an exercise bike in our office, from 12pm Friday to 12pm Saturday.

In total, we cycled 645.6km, and the person who rode the fastest and furthest was....drum roll.... Aaron Stone with a whopping 49.27km in 1 hour 35 mins!! Also very impressive were Ollie Gearing with 48.35km and Nicole Cooper with 46.51km.

We did this to raise money for Make-a-Wish UK (add hyperlink to https://www.make-a-wish.org.uk/), one of our two chosen charity partners for 2022. Make-a-Wish is a wonderful organisation whose mission statement is: “Together, we create life changing wishes for children with critical illnesses”.

They provide experiences for children who are seriously ill with life-threatening conditions. Make-A-Wish UK creates life-changing wishes that revive the childhood that critical illness takes away, bringing light and joy at the darkest of times for a child and their loved ones. Right now, there are 60,000 children in the UK living with a critical condition, and Make-a-Wish don’t have the resources to be that light for everyone. Your generous support will help them step closer to achieving their vision: to grant a wish to every eligible child. Together, we have the power to light up the darkness.

Here is some of the wishes your donations can grant:

  • £10 can help buy cupcakes for a child who wishes to have a tea party with their favourite TV character

  • £50 can help dress a little princess or firefighter in their very own costume for their magical wish

  • £3000 helps pay for a child living with a physical disability to own a spa pool to help relax their muscles and gain freedom

Through various internal and external fundraising initiatives, we want to help raise money that can make a genuine difference. If you are able to make some kind of donation, no matter how small, we would be so grateful.
